About the Role

Job Description & Summary
As part of the continued growth and innovation of our Asia Pacific ESG strategy, PwC has an opportunity for an experienced leader and subject matter expert to join our firm in the Asia Pacific Region to support our continued growth in the Energy Transition space. It is envisaged that the role would be regionally focused for the right candidate, working closely with our colleagues in both Practice (Lines of Service LoS) & Markets (Sales & Client Engagements) focused areas.

This role will provide:

To help build a world class team as part of the PwC ESG Centre of Excellence and to help grow Energy Transition across the region.

Position Responsibilities

The role of the Asia Pacific (APac) ESG Virtual Centre of Excellence (VcoE) Team is to support the development of ESG client delivery capability & capacity across the region. The Territories have primary responsibility for the depth & breadth of services/clients, the ESG VCoE supports and accelerates this by:
Linking teams across the region to be able to share and collaborate increasing the ability to make PwC’s best people credentials available to the greatest possible range of clients
Client-Facing & Business Development Responsibility that will support exponential growth across the Energy Transition sector in the Asia Pacific region
Develop strategy that supports an increase in market awareness of ESG at PwC and translates into Sales and Project opportunities within the Energy Transition sector
Market leading client focused thought leadership, understanding the PwC landscape and supplementing / identifying delivery alliances to support our continued growth
Enabling the use and integration of digital assets that drive the efficiency and / or effectiveness of ESG service offerings or enhance our client propositions (i.e. help us win work)
Helping our territory teams expand the range of services to our clients so that we are responsive to and anticipatory of emerging or future client needs and sector developments
Engaging with and driving “ESG is everything we do” across all practice areas (for example, embedding climate risk into the audit teams)
Strengthen our regional and global outlook to ESG services in recognition that the majority of our clients (and our staff) see ESG as inter-connected and as a series of developing, major trans-boundary issues requiring trans-boundary solutions.
The ESG VCoE does this through developing and maintaining strong relationships with the territory teams, regional leadership, global ESG leadership team, and other regional, sectoral and delivery teams.

The following provide KPIs for the regional ESG Subject Matter Experts:

Integrated Strategy

Within the first 6 months develop an integrated strategy (which will continuously evolve over time). This strategy will:
Outline the Energy Transition market in APac and our value proposition
Map competency and client/territory needs across the region in Energy Transition
Map support teams that may be present within the PwC global network i.e. India & EMEA
A developed market plan for an agreed number of existing and target clients to drive Energy Transition work over the next 2 to 5years
Identifies external delivery support teams (or potential acquisition targets)
Identified key growth areas and PwC market positioning as well as potential key hires to help drive purposeful and meaningful growth
Determine support needs over a rolling 2-year cycle
Lead ESG Thought Leadership in the Energy Transition area.

Actionable Plan

Based on the Integrated Strategy build & maintain an actionable plan (agreed with the individual territory ESG leads) to build out:
Competency at the territory level through internal training (with the regional ESG L&D lead)
Local team hiring (with the regional ESG TA lead)
Setting up (if not already present) or involvement with regional Cross Lines of Service/ESG ‘virtual teams’ to enable sharing of best practice, market intelligence etc.
Identifies and provides regular interaction with both global and other region thought leadership teams to share best practice, market intelligence, tools etc. to maximize the impact of our global team, provide consistency of approach
Work with territories to develop in market activation plans to drive client engagement on key product / service initiatives

We envisage that to be effective and to stay engaged with the market and delivery, the regional SMEs will be involved in proposal and project delivery in agreement with the territory leads/teams. The proposed split in time for project delivery, at least in the first year, should be no more than 30% of the SMEs time with the rest focused on the needs above.
